Play Personnel
Roles & Responsibilities
- Engage children with cancer in structured play activities at the hospital ward, outpatient clinic or Family Support Centre.
- Help to clean toys, prepare art & craft activities and/or run group activities.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Enjoys interacting and playing with children
- Exhibits maturity
- Energetic and cheerful
Commitment
- A minimum 2 hours per week
- A minimum of 6 months
- Volunteer during the following hours:
CCF Family Support Centre at National University Hospital/ CCF Family Support Centre at KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital
Mondays to Fridays: 10.00am to 12.00pm/2.00pm to 4.00pm
Tutor
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide tuition to a child with cancer or sibling who comes from a low-income family.
- Motivate the child in the learning process.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Minimum GCE ‘O’ Levels
- Willing to commute to the child's house
- Mature, patient and creative
Commitment
- Able to go to the child's house for at least 2 hours per week for a period of 1 year
- Submit a bi-monthly record form to the Social Worker/Counsellor in-charge
Befriender
Roles & Responsibilities
- To befriend the child with cancer or sibling.
- To interact and play with the child or sibling.
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Able to interact effectively with children
- Willing to commute to the child's house
- Mature, patient and creative
Commitment
- Able to go to the child's house for at least 2 hours per week for a period of 1 year
- Submit a bi-monthly record form to the Social Worker/Counsellor in-charge
Event Volunteer
Roles & Responsibilities
- Work with staff and other volunteers to plan and execute activities for children with cancer and their families.
- Various roles on event day (Eg. Medical support, Group leader, photographer).
Requirements
- At least 18 years old
- Mature, good in planning and organizing skills
- Able to work independently and as a team player
Commitment
- Able to commit for the entire period of a project (which could be between 3 to 6 months)
- Available for the duration of the entire programme on event day
