The CCF@KKH Family Resource Centre (FRC), located at Children’s Tower, Level 7, next to Children’s Day Therapy, is stocked with reference books on childhood cancer and its treatments, toys, games, storybooks, arts and crafts materials, electronic handheld games and media resources. The centre provides a safe haven for children, young persons and caregivers to engage in a variety of activities and removes the stress of being in the hospital. It also has an electronic games corner where children can play Wii, PlayStation or Nintendo Switch.
Within Ward 76, CCF@KKH also operates a Teens’ and Caregivers’ Room especially for inpatients above 12 years old. The room houses games consoles like Wii and PlayStation, television, computers with internet connection as well as musical instruments such as keyboard, ukulele, guitar and cajon drum for teens to find expression through creating music. The room is also a place for the patients and caregivers to have a more relaxed and comfortable time away from the hospital bed. A Refreshment Corner is also available where caregivers have access to light refreshments to re-energise themselves while at the hospitals.
