CCF Tribute Issue 4 2016 - page 18-19

“Having been a CCF beneficiary myself, I wanted
to hold this fundraiser to show my appreciation
for the support given to me and my family. Only
recently, I completed my treatment, and thus the
experience is still very raw and fresh onmymind.
The support from CCF throughout my cancer journey - from services at the
hospital to attending lessons at PALS to help me adjust to school life, had
been invaluable. I soldmy hand-painted paintings duringmy birthday party to
encourage invited guests to donate toCCF.
I am glad to have raised a total of $2,880 for CCF and I hope that this will
helpCCF to continue supporting beneficiaries likemyself. To all the childhood
cancer patients, I just want to say JIAYOU!”

that through this event, our friends
would better empathise with those
suffering
from childhood cancer
and that the funds raised would
help to improve the lives of theCCF
beneficiaries and their families.”
Mid-AutumnFunand
Fundraising
It was a FUN-raising event when
friends and like-minded folks came
together to raise funds for children
undergoing cancer treatment. It was
a night of DIY popiah party, barbecue
and delicious food and mooncakes
sponsored by Mayo Inn and planned
by Mayo consultant Dr Michelle Yeo
andMr TerranceTay.
The CCF beneficiaries had a hand
in designing lanterns and played
with sparklers after a hearty dinner.
Invited guests to the party gathered
at the Mayo Inn Rooftop to donate
generously towards a good cause
whilst having fun.
On Friday, 19 August, the Anglo-Chinese School
(Independent) Rugby CDivision team organised a head-
shaving event to raise funds for CCF. Year 2 student
organiser Noah Tan shared, “This was a very meaningful
experienceas I hope tomakeapositive impact in the lives
of thosewho are in need.”
Matthieu Ricard described empathy as ‘the ability to feel
what others are experiencing and to resonate with them’.
“We hope that our shaven heads will in a small way
express our solidarity and support for cancer patients.”
It was the first time that Year 1 student Jayson Loo
participated in a head-shaving event. He said, “I decided
to shave as I wanted to raise awareness for children with
cancer. I would like to tell others about childhood cancer
and howwe can help those affected by it.”
This is the third year that ACS (Independent) organized
the head-shaving event named “For Ryan’s Sake” as a
tribute to the late Ryan Quek, a student of the school who
succumbed to cancer in 2012.
When it comes to raising funds for charities,Korean leading

innovative fundraising campaigns let customers have fun

Children’sCancer Foundation (CCF) through itsChristmas
fundraising campaigns by selling limited editionDIY (Do-It-

commitment insupportingCCF,given theamountof thought
and effort that went into these fundraising initiatives.
In this issue of Tribute, we find out what inspires innisfree
to come up with such creative fundraising campaigns to
raise funds for CCF and promote the cause of supporting
childrenwith cancer and their families.
Tell usmore about theGreenChristmas campaign.
Themainconcept of ourannualGreenChristmascampaign
revolves around the idea of ‘Make Enjoy Share’. We hope
to inculcate the spirit of giving from young, especially
during the season of giving. Furthermore, DIYKits appeal
to people of all ages and both parent and childwill be able
to create something magical together while helping the
children and families impacted by cancer.
Is thereany reason forhaving the fundraisingcampaigns
during theChristmas period?
It’s the giving season andwe hope theDIYKitswill help to
convey a heart-warming but impactful message to others.
We understand that innisfree’s CSR philosophy is first
and foremost to be environmentally friendly. But at
the same time, in its endeavour to be a well-rounded
corporate citizen, innisfree also supports charities
in the local communities that it operates in. Can you
sharewithusmore about this?
Some of the other CSR and green initiatives we have
embarked on include the Eco Handkerchief Campaign
which takes place in June each year, as well as our on-
going Empty Bottle Recycling Programme. Our customers
can take part in the Empty Bottle Recycling Programme
by simply dropping our empty bottles in the bin provided
in-stores. In Korea, innisfree has also been promoting
Green Life actively through its Clean Jeju Campaign and
Tree Planting initiatives in Inner Mongolia. We believe
it only takes a small effort to incorporate the Green Life
