hostsbakeday for CCF
In support of the CCF, ICBC Standard Bank volunteers
hosted a bake day on 29 September with 19 Children’s
Cancer Foundation beneficiaries. Working together
in a small kitchen, the group had a great time baking
sausage rolls, getting their hands dirty and learning about
ingredients. The fun activity gave each child a sense of achievement, and
ended with everyone enjoying the freshly baked sausage rolls. The children
were given goodie bags prepared by the volunteers at the end of the session.
This event was a meaningful one and ICBC Standard Bank looks forward to
hostingmore collaborationswith theChildren’sCancer Foundation.

On 8 September 2016, Republic Polytechnic (RP)
hosted23CCFbeneficiaries to ‘AFlyingHighworkshop’.
The activity was led by Staff Lecturers from the School
of Engineering (Ms Loh Hui Ling, Mr Daniel Kwek,
Mr HamidSaeedipour), Student Leader Tan JunXiong
Kerwin and 11 other student volunteers. The volunteers
hoped that the children and youths from CCF enjoyed
the experience of exploring the aircraft carriers.
Some of the activities for that day included:
Aircraft Floor Tour at the Arch to knowmore about
an aircraft and the fundamentals of flights;
Flying an Airbus with the A320 Flight Simulator to
experience the job of a pilot
Visit to the Virtual Aerodrome Lab (VAL) to gain
insight of the various capabilities of VAL and
simulations of real-life scenarios on the runway
DemoofUAVflights togainexperienceofunmanned

Both theCCF beneficiaries and theRP volunteers had
a great time interacting with each other. RPwould like
to thank CCF for this great volunteering opportunity
and to thank Ms Joanne Tan, Ms Serene Tam and the
staff of CCF for their support. We hope to continue this
collaboration with CCF and spread our love to more
CCF beneficiaries.
GoSweet For HopewithArtisanBoulangerieCo!
As part of its commitment to supporting the communities they serve, Artisan
Boulangerie Co (ABC) designed and sold two special CCF-themed pastries
where 70% of the proceedswere donated toCCF.
The twopastries–CompassionSwirl andHopeÉclair -weresoldat sevenABC
outlets between 7 September to 7October 2016 (Children’s Day). The design
of the “Compassion Swirl” was inspired by the CCF logo. It was made with
flaky croissant dough, toppedwith vanilla creamand finishedwitha sprinkleof
Frenchpraline (roastedalmonds rolled in caramelized sugar). TheHope
Éclair was made with classic éclair choux shells, fresh lemon
cream and toppedwith lemon fondant and candiedmini flowers,
reminiscent of theCCF tulips.
For ABC Executive Chef Eran Mayer, the decision to support
CCF was a very personal one. “Cancer is a disease that affects
all of us. It could be a loved one or an acquaintance, adult or
child. As a father of two youngdaughters, supporting childrenwith
cancer is a cause that is close to my heart. The Hope Éclair and
CompassionSwirl is a ‘sweet’ way to help raise awareness of CCF
and itsmission to build a better future for children with cancer and
their families.”
With the support of ABC guests and employees, a total of $4,000
was raised in support of CCF. Chef Eran also conducted a special
Gingerbread Man decorating workshop for the CCF’s PALS (Place for Academic
Learning andSupport) students in late-November ahead of theChristmas season.

Vita Coco Coconut Water was born on the beaches of
Brazil, but when you can’t get to the beach, Vita Coco
likes to bring the beach to you! On 18 October 2016,
wewereexcited tohost eight CCF families at our pop-
up beach to learn the art of drip-painting as no day at
the beach comeswithout a little bit of messy fun!
InDripPainting, anabstract formof art, theparticipants
experience the freedom of movement andwielding the
brush as they drip/pour paint onto a canvas! Indeed,
some of the CCF parents (and building management)
were worried about the amount of paint going around,
but it certainlymade for somegreat laughs! Throughout
the afternoon, we experimented drip-painting on
cardboard, photo frames and even coconut shells, but
the highlight was creating a piece of art that required
everyone to contributeabrush stroke. The final canvas
is now proudly displayed at theVitaCoco office!
When we asked Team Vita Coco how the day went,
there was only one response: “It was drip-tastic!” We
can’t wait to do it again!
