Once again, our well-loved bake specialist Ms Jessica
from Luffs Cottage was back at CCF@KKH on
15 September 2016, to conduct an apple pie bake-
off session. Not only was the aroma of warm apple
pies an invitation to hungry tummies, these pastries
definitely lifted the spirits of many whowere present.
The overall atmosphere was cheerful as the
beneficiaries had the opportunity to create and
design their own apple pies.
While waiting for the apple pies to be ready from the
oven, our volunteers facilitated word games to keep
the beneficiaries engaged and entertained.
The baked apple pies turned out to be scrumptious.
All in all, it was a fun-filled event!
CCF@KKHcelebrated theFestival of lightson25October
2016 with a beautiful traditional dance performance.
Husband and wife duo Upadhyay and Anjum planned
the whole programme which lasted about an hour and a
half. Upadhyay was the host while his wife danced. The
audiencewere enlightened by their sharing of the stories
andmeanings behind the performance.
Anjum performed two dances which consisted of a
‘Thanking the Universe Dance’ followed by a ‘Bird
Dance’. Our children and their caregiverswere thrilled to
be invited to join in this celebration. Our performer and
host were extremely interactive and entertaining.
To share and spread the love and spirit of Deepavali,
UpadhyayandAnjumalsobrought the childrenelectronic
tea lights in traditional candle holders asDeepavali gifts.
The kind gesture was much appreciated by the children
and their parents.

“Christmas is amonth of joy and happiness, and it has always beena special occasion for all
races and religion to come together and celebrate. Forme, this festive season ismore special
as I am celebrating it withmy nine-month-old twins. Thus, I thought it would be nice to contrib-
ute to the society, and I chose todonate toys to childrenwith cancer because 20 years ago, my
brother-in-law passed away due to cancer.
So I askedmy family if theywere interested in this noble
cause, tomy surprise, I managed to raise$2,200within three
days. I was delightedwith the support the family provided.We
then shop for all the giftswithin2 days so it can bedelivered to
the kids on time. I hope thiswill beamemorableChristmas for
childrenwith cancer and their families.”
