International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD)
is a
global collaborative campaign by Childhood Cancer
International (CCI) to raise childhood cancer
awareness. CCF commemorated ICCD on 15February
2015 by organising ward activities in KKH and NUH that
allowed children to draw self-portrait of themselves on a
“mirror” effect film that reflected their dreams and heroes
in life.
The artworks were then displayed along the corridors of
the wards where passers-by could see themselves in the
mirrors. Through the use of mirrors reflecting the needs,
dreams, temperaments and expectations of the children,
this activity conveyed the message that children with
cancer could still lead a normal childhood.
