CCF introduced the
Legacy Building Programme
and Staycation Programme in 2015. Legacy Building
Programme
aims to provide a positive and creative way
for the beneficiaries and their families tomakemeaning of
their cancer journeyand facilitate resilience inadversity. As
it helps in promoting family bonding and communications,
the programme also alleviates the stress of caregivers
and bring solace to bereaved families through fond
memories and remembranceof their lovedones.
Diagnosed with brain tumour in 2015, five-year-oldAiman
recorded a music video as he danced to his favourite
Korean pop song, “Gangnam Style”, along with family
members, medical staff and a CCF caseworker. Aiman’s
story is a testament that positive hospital experiences are
possible for children with cancer. The video is a legacy
that he leaves behind for his family and other children and
families affected by cancer.
Burnout is common among caregivers as the demands
of caregiving can be overwhelming at times, resulting
in physical and mental exhaustion. The
Staycation
Programme
providesanoutlet for thecaregiver and family
to have a break from the hospital environment and find
respite from their caregiving roles and responsibilities,
with the hope of helping them cope better with caregiving

PALLIATIVE&BEREAVEMENTSERVICE
When a child is at the end stage of life, it is an
extremely emotionally challenging and stressful period
for both the child and his/her family as they struggle to
deal with end-of-life issues. As part of CCF’s integrated
hospital-community-home service model, palliative
and bereavement service was introduced in 2009
to help children with poor prognosis and their
families cope with the medical, emotional, social and
financial challenges.
