BakingChristmas
confetti cookies
Christmas isaseasonof givingand tocelebrate
this festive season, we conducted a baking
workshopon19December2017 for thechildren
at CCF@NUH to try their hands at baking
Christmas confetti cookies to gift to their family
or loved ones. The children had fun kneading
the dough and rolling them into mini balls.
The most enjoyable part of the activity was to
decorate the handmade cookies with rainbow
sprinkles.
Some of the children who had attended our
previous baking workshop could remember
most of the steps and required less guidance.
Once thebakingwasdone, thechildrencarefully
placed their cookies in individual gift bags,
before tying them up with ribbons. They also

Christmascarnival
@CCF-NUH
The CCF-NUH playroomwas transformed into
amini family carnival on 21December 2017 as
part of the festive celebration. Game stations
were set up for children to participate and win
prizes and goodies. The joyous Christmas
carols brought a smile to the children’s faces
and they were buzzingwith excitement as they
entered theplayroom.
Each child was handed a Christmas stocking
(handmade by our kind volunteers from
Singapore Polytechnic) to decorate on. Once
thechildrenweresatisfiedwith theirdecorations,
they proceeded to the various stations to try
their hand at winning some goodies. While
theywere engrossed in the games, a volunteer
dressedupasSantaClausbrought cheer to the
children. In no time, the children ran towards
him and patiently waited for their Christmas
presents. They also took photos with Santa
Claus at thephotobooth for keepsake.
Hospital events
On 6 February 2018, we introduced a brand
new enrichment activity for our children at
CCF@NUH.Usingsimpleandeasilyaccessible
materials like straws, the childrenmade simple
structures such as balls and pyramids under
theguidanceof an instructor. The childrenwere
fascinated and engrossed in learning how to
piece the straws together.
Once theyweremore familiar with the process,
they went on to make flowers and cubes out
of straws. They were also encouraged to use
their creativity to attempt any structures that
they would like to make. Some beneficiaries
experimented with the straws and explored
other possibilities even though the session had
ended. Itwasdefinitelyanenjoyablesession for
our children!

and inspirational quotes on
them.
To include an element of
surprise, these cards were
arranged faced down for our
beneficiaries to pick. The
volunteers then read the
cards out to the children and
explained the meaning to
them.
Thanks to the volunteers,
CCF beneficiaries and their
families thoroughly enjoyed
the session.
