Superman at Home
The students at PALS celebrated Father’s Day on
17 June 2016 by showing appreciation to their
‘superman’ at home – their dads! As the saying goes,
‘Apicture speaks a thousandwords’, our students took
to drawing to express their affections and gratitude
towards their fathers.
Using theircreative imaginations, thechildrendecorated
plain pillow cases with striking fabric paints to convey
their love for their fathers! They conscientiously
worked at every brush and stroke to ensure that their
masterpieces were perfect. All the dads enjoyed the
hand-decoratedpillowcasesand felt very lovedon
this special day.
CelebratingRacial Harmony!
On 22 July 2016, students and teachers at PALS
donned interesting and colourful traditional costumes to
commemorate Racial Harmony Day. The day celebrates
secularity of the nation and reinforces the importance of
different ethnic groups living harmoniously together.

The children tried their hands at traditional games such
as chapteh and five stones, and learnt how to draw a

Singapore and the repercussions of intolerance towards

National DayCelebrations
Do you know that the lyrics to Singapore’s national
anthem is printed at the back of Singapore’s $1000
note and that there are a total of 13 expressways in
Singapore! These were some of the fun facts shared
by a group of dedicated volunteers from Ngee Ann
Polytechnic’sTechnologyDevelopment and Innovation
office who helped to organise the National Day
celebrations at PALS on 5August 2016.
Clad in the national colours of red andwhite, thePALS
students had a ball of time unravelling interesting
facts of Singapore. They took pride in discovering the
answerswith thehelpofmapsand resourcesprepared
by the volunteers. The children also made their very
own ‘Merlions’and ‘HandprintRainbows’outof recycled
materials and sang national day songs. All of them
went home with a National Day flag, their handiwork
and more knowledge about Singapore. PALS would
like to thank volunteers fromNgeeAnnPolytechnic for
organising such ameaningful session for our children.
