CCF Tribute Issue 3 2016 - page 13

The heavy rain on 23 June 2016 did not dampen the spirits of the children
at CCF@KKH from having a ‘baking’ good time with volunteers from
Luffs Cottage! During the session, the children baked scones under the
guidanceofMs Jessica. Shealsoencouraged the children to try the recipe
at home and share the goodnesswith their family too!
Despite the cold and wet weather, the CCF Family Resource Centre was
certainly filled with warmth and love as the children and their caregivers
bonded over scones! Thank you Luffs Cottage for never failing to add on
to the children’s fun baking experiences.
HOSPITALEVENTS
To celebrate Hari Raya, both CCF@KKH and CCF@
NUH organised a honey cornflake cookies baking session
on 1 July and 5 July 2016 respectively to introduce the
children to some of the popular festive pastries enjoyed
by the Muslim community. With eager eyes they watched
the volunteer bakers from Luff Cottage knead the cookie
dough and could not wait to get their hands dirty with the
flour and sprinkles!
When it was their turn to get hands-on, the young bakers
had somuch fun rolling the dough into smaller ballswhich
they laid nicely on the baking trays before placing
them in the oven. The children could not contain
their excitement when the fragrant smell of freshly
baked cookies filled the room! While waiting for
their cookies to be ready, the children and their
caregivers also spent time decorating their
cookie boxes. When the cookieswere ready, the
children took great care to pack the cookies into
the handmade boxes and brought it home to
savour with their family.
