Raising funds through sales of
recyclablematerials
To give students the opportunity to care for the
environment and community, Kent Ridge Secondary
School organised a series of events on 19 January
2017 to raise funds for CCF.
The school’s Character and Citizenship Education
Framework adopts the approach of anchoring
students’ learning through explicit teaching and the
provision of experiential learning opportunities within
a culture of care and excellence.
OnKRHands-OnDay2017,SecondaryTwostudents
combed Clementi and West Coast neighbourhoods
to collect recyclable materials. As a school, KRSS
raised a total of $11,161.15 from the sales proceeds
of the recyclable materials, the ‘Chinese New Year
collection’ and donations from parents. All funds
collectedwere donated toCCF.
In class, the students also learnt that childhood
cancer affectsmore than just the patients during our
Public Education talks. Hence, KRSS fully supports
CCF’s holistic mission to help not just recovering
children but their families during this difficult time.
Just as family ties are important toKRSS, the school
believes that CCF's role in strengthening relations
between family members is crucial in the child’s
recovery journey.
The students walked away with a sense of purpose
and empathy after learning how CCF has helped
these beneficiaries. It taught them to do their best for
CCF, and some students even volunteered to stay
back after school to assist with further packing.
We truly hope our humble efforts have made an
impact in one way or another. To all at CCF - keep
up the noble work, and we look forward to future
collaborations together!
