Start Small, DreamBig
Sherwood Childcare took part in the “Start Small DreamBig”
project initiated by Early Childhood Development Agency
(ECDA) from 17 June to 29 September 2017. To educate the
children in amoremeaningful way and as part of the school’s
core value on showing empathy towards others, the school
embarkedon aproject to raise funds for the less fortunate.
Children viewed videos and images of different beneficiaries
and the purpose of the fundraising was explained to them.
The children came to an agreement to nominate CCF as the
beneficiary as they empathised with the children of their age
groupwho are battling cancer.
We had six months to plan and execute the fundraising
initiative. Aside from the tight schedule, we were initially
sceptical as to whether the parents would respond to
our call, or whether we couldmeet our fundraising target.
However, theparents rose to the challengeand supported the
causeby donating their preloved items for saleat thedifferent
events and making cash donations. We were surprised and
gratified by their overwhelming participation.
Throughout this project, we have worked to instill the spirit of
giving, sharing and caring for others in our Sherwood children.
We are also thankful for the teachers’ hard work and our
parents’ generous giving.Wewould not have beenable to raise
$1,646.76 for CCF without their support. It has been a great
learning journey, and a memorable one for all of us! Kudos to
all parents, children, staff and teachers of SherwoodChildcare.
