Paying tribute to childhood
cancerwarriors
More than 150 students ofAnglo-Chinese
School (Independent) shaved their heads
on18August 2017 to raise childhood cancer
awareness and show support for CCF beneficiaries.
“Through the act of shaving, I believe it will help to create
childhood cancer awareness and at the same time, build
a community of support for the children and families who
are battling cancer,” said Mr Loy Xing Jian, a teacher
who participated in the event. The event was also a way
to pay tribute to a former student who had succumbed to
childhood cancer. Since then, the school’s rugby team
has continued to organise the event to show support for
cancer warriors.
Besides the head-shaving event, a booth was set up
at the school canteen for students to understand more
about childhood cancer. We also raised funds for CCF
through the sales of merchandise and outright donations.
Through our collective efforts, a total of $10,346.60 was
raised for CCF.
