Casework andCounsellingprovide:
• A comprehensive psychosocial assessment to
determine thestrengthsandneedsof thechildandhis/
her familywith regard to coping effectivelywith cancer
diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care requirements.
• Development of a multi-disciplinary care plan with
inputs frompatient, caregivers andmedical personnel
and constant review of the care plan.
• On-going follow-up to meet the varying psychosocial
needs of thepatient andhis/her familymembers along
the illness trajectory.
Financial Assistance:
Besides having to cope with the emotional distress when a child is newly diagnosed with cancer, the family is also
thrusted intoa situationof dealingwithunanticipatedandhefty treatment costs. CCF first set up itsFinancialAssistance
Scheme in 1996 to help alleviate the financial burden of families by providing financial counselling and assistance in
cash or in-kind. The scheme coversmedical treatment, food andmaintenance, transport and schooling expenses.

CCF is at every touch point of a child’s life right from the onset
of his/her diagnosis. Casework and counselling remain as part
ofCCF’scoreservices insupporting thechildandhis/her family.
When a referral is made to CCF, a CCF caseworker will
be assigned to help the family cope more effectively with
the impacts of illness through psychosocial support and
practical assistance.
The support provided is multi-faceted and unique to each
family, depending on the diagnosis, developmental needs
of the child and the stressors in his/her family, as well as their
ability in copingwith the impacts of illness.
