The Caregivers’ Resource Pack

comprising
a starter
kit and guidebook, is distributed to caregivers of newly
diagnosed children to address their practical needs and
concerns. The starter kit contains useful and practical
items such as anti-bacterial wipes, a food warmer and
surgical face masks to help caregivers cope with their
new caregiving responsibilities. The guidebook provides
caregivers with important medical and psychosocial
information pertaining to childhood cancer.

The Tender Loving Care (TLC) Pack
is distributed
to caregivers to help them cope with the stress and
vigilance over their child’s medical condition when their
child is admitted to the High Dependency Unit (HDU) or
Paediatrics IntensiveCareUnit (PICU). Thepack contains
light refreshments and a neck pillow to allow caregivers to
rest more comfortably.

Caregivers Hospital Visit Programme
aims to support
parentswho are going through a roller coaster emotional
journey while coping with their children’s illness.
Caregivers of children who have completed treatments
will share practical caregiving tips and express words of
encouragement to the familymembers of inpatients during
the hospital visit. Youthswho havewon the battle against
cancer also participate in the visit. With their exemplary
courageand resilience, these youths arean inspiration to
the inpatients. The programme has successfully reached
out to 15 caregivers.
2SESSIONS, 6PARTICIPANTS
Caregivers Massage Session
is conducted weekly at
KKH and NUH to enhance the well-being of caregivers
by providing opportunities for caregivers’ self-care as they
attend to the needs of their child at the hospital.

Time for a Caring Chat (TCC)
is an open parent
support group at CCF@KKH and CCF@NUH that
provides information to caregivers on the medical and
psychosocial aspects of their child’s illness. Facilitated by
social workers and healthcare professionals, the support
group also serves as a platform for caregivers to share
their experiences and exchange caregiving tips. Through
group sharing, the caregivers are provided with valuable
caregiving information and knowledge in supporting their
child through the cancer journey.
28SESSIONS, 132PARTICIPANTS
TheBoneMarrowTransplant (BMT) Pack
is distributed
to caregivers whose child requires a BMTwhich involves
prolonged hospitalisation. Each pack contains a thermal
mug, moisturiser, bedroom slippers and a neck pillow
to promote amore comfortable stay for the caregivers at
the hospital.
